About
After 17 years in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, Claire Oliver Gallery acquired a significant, historical building in Central Harlem in 2018. With four floors, this new space will allow for the facilitation of an agenda which includes community outreach and public programming, while also enabling multiple exhibitions, lectures, and demonstrations to take place simultaneously.
The Gallery’s commitment to remain exclusively in the primary market, promoting significant emerging artists, has allowed for an intensive focus with significant results. Many of the Gallery’s artists have been included in The Venice Biennale, The Whitney Biennial, and biennales in Sydney, Pittsburgh, and Lyon. Claire Oliver Gallery supports the participation of Gallery artists in museum exhibitions and other international venues, including, but not limited to: The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, Center Georges Pompidou, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Claire Oliver Gallery artists are included in the permanent collections of many important museums worldwide including The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Tate Britain, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The State Hermitage Museum and MoMA, New York. Claire Oliver Gallery held the first American exhibition for the Russian collaborative AES+F, whose work went on to twice represent Russia in the Russian pavilion of the Venice Biennale.
Gallery artists have received prestigious fellowships including Fulbright, Guggenheim, USArtist and National Endowment for the Arts. Gallery artist work has been widely published as artist monographs in art journals, and included in art historical and critical theory texts. It has been reviewed in The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, Hyperallergic, ARTnet, The New Yorker, Artnews and many other prestigious publications.
