Giving Voice to Women and BIPOC Artists - In Conversation with Claire Oliver of Claire Oliver Gallery

Kame Hame for Widewalls

For over thirty years, Claire Oliver Gallery has remained true to its original policy to champion underrepresented artists. Thanks to their initiative, the works of more than 300 artists have been accepted into permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as The Tate Modern, The State Hermitage Museum, and The Museum of Modern Art in New York, to name a few.

The Gallery's founder, Claire Oliver, has seen firsthand the inequality women artists and people of color face each day. However, rather than perpetuating the longstanding tradition of women being paid less and disregarding underrepresented voices that challenge the traditional art historical canon, Oliver made the bold choice to provide equal opportunities and rights to these individuals by wholeheartedly embracing their careers and actively promoting and nurturing them.
