Going out requires preparation: adjusting necklines, swooping edges, applying makeup and sculpting hair, a party punctuated by scuffed heels, haloed flyaways, flaked product and smeared mascara…all indicators of a good time. I’ve done this with my homegirls dozens of times. It is a sacred, ephemeral art that lives in inside jokes and recollections.
