Lauren Fensterstock’s monolithic “Portal,” all black with ornate deeply textured surface of hundreds, maybe thousands of seashells, towers over viewers. Amid the ebony shells, a black, highly reflective plane suggests a fissure, perhaps leading to or sealing off another realm.
