Sami Tsang

As a young adult who grew up in two very different countries, Sami faces different challenges in communicating and mostly trying to understand ways to belong. Sami uses a vocabulary of images, both personal and traditionally Chinese, to express her anxieties, hopes, fears and things about her life and future. It is both a comfort and a warning. She wants to give herself an outlet through the narrative sculpture. Just like clay, her feelings start as a shapeless mass slowly taking form, building a platform from where her emotional experience can be shared. The process of making brings her a sense of empowerment and agency.
